Missionêr en Moslems

1. What in the World is the Missional Church?

“Since the conservatives adopt the historically revisionistic storyline of the ecumenicals almost wholesale, they fall into some of the same reductionism. Both emphasize the fact that the church is a people, and not a place. That’s absolutely correct. But answering the question “Where on earth will we find the church?” requires us to fall back on the three marks of the Reformers—preaching, practicing the ordinances, and practicing discipline. As Mark Dever likes to say, three Christians who bump into each other at the grocery store do not comprise a local church.”

The Bible and Islam: Sharing God’s Word with a Muslim, A Basic Guide by Bassam Michael Madany

This book was written as a message for Christians witnessing to Muslims. It relates the Gospel genuinely, relevantly, and intelligently to the Muslim heart and mind. Rev. Madany, a pioneer radio missionary, shares his approach – and emphasis on man’s sinfulness and the redemptive character of the Bible. He writes out of the context of 30 years of bringing the Scriptures to a people to whom the Word has been denied for centuries.

“Christian missions belong to God, not to us. It is a privilege for us to be involved in them.”

“You will also notice that I subscribe to a specific tradition: the Reformed heritage. This does not mean that my understanding of the Bible is prejudiced by a dogmatic approach to its teachings, but rather that my study of Holy Scripture has increased my attachment to the Reformed tradition. I find myself better equipped to bring the Gospel to Muslims because of the major themes of the Reformed faith. It also means that I am totally committed to the unique role of the Bible in missions. It is not Western culture that I spread over the air, but the liberating Word of God. Muslims have seldom heard the Word of God in their mother tongue. Most of them have never seen a Bible.”

  1. Ek is ‘n hele rukkie al besig om navorsing te doen oor hoe die EC verskillende terme gebruik ook die term “missional” . Hier is ook tersake inligting:

    http://www.svchapel.org/resources/articles/21-church-trends/506-the-emerging-church-part-3

Hieruit blyk dat hulle nie meer die bring van die evangelie as belangrik sien nie, maar meer ‘n tipe social gospel:

“Since the emergent church sees the gospel not merely as the redemption of lost souls but also as the restoration of the planet and salvation from man’s inhumanity to man, they comprehend their task as Christians differently from that of most evangelicals. They call it “missional”.”
